Conclusion
Congratulations on completing a lap on the path to fitness!
You've thought about why you want to be more fit, what is in your
way and how to get past it, and you've set some goals to help you
get started. When you finish writing those goals onto your Activity Map post it
somewhere visible like your fridge or your bathroom mirror. At the end of the
week take a few minutes to review your goals:
- Did you meet the first week's goal? If so, what goal will you set
for yourself this week? Will it be the same one, or another step on
your path?
- Were you unable to meet your goal? Don't worry, you still learned
something about what is motivating and realistic for you. Use what
you learned to help you set the next week's goal.
Remember, we don't get out of shape in one day, and
we won't get fit in one day either, so don't get discouraged. Being
active is a lifelong path, some days you may take one step back for
every two steps forward, sometimes it might seem like you've stepped off
the path altogether. Though these days may feel like failures, they're
actually a normal part of any path (like any other part of your life, an
off day is normal). If you don't meet your goal it doesn't mean that
you've failed, it may take lots of trial and experimentation to figure
out what works for you. Setbacks provide the information you need to
hone your goals.
