I had to go all the way around to find a good place to go into the big mud puddle. I'm actually heading towards my dad's truck, and I had to hug the fence you see in the background to get a good approach angle (very difficult without power steering, especially at slow speeds using a steering box designed to have power assist). As you can see, I'm off to a pretty good start.

Or not! The thick, sticky mud proved to be too much. In this picture, I'm working on rocking myself out; going in reverse here. What you don't see in this picture is the big cloud of diesel soot that's coming out of my tailpipe. With the thick mud, it takes quite a bit of power to even spin my tires.

Still trying to rock myself out, this time going forward. I'm looking rearwards to see how much I'm spinning (I can barely see the rear tires from the driver's seat) and seeing if I'm putting out noticeable exhaust.

And, with a sudden lurch, I'm free! You can see on my face and my posture that I wasn't expecting this! Not only am I grabbing solid ground with the front wheels, I'm moving pretty fast too. With a hill right in front of me, this was kinda un-nerving, but I made the best of it and went right up the hill.
