I'm halfway through the small mud puddle in this picture, although the Scout's partially hidden by some tumbleweeds. The right rear corner of my dad's '67 Ford F-250 2 wheel drive is in the foreground. In the background, you can see the big mud puddle that will come into play later on.

Here you can see the wheel ruts left by my truck as it passed through. Other than some fishtailing, my truck had no problem negotiating this puddle in 1st and granny low (a sweet 2.61 with the Dana 300). This is in spite of my tires, which were made for dirt and not necessarily mud. I love my Big-O's :)

I went all the way forward to solid ground, but there was no way out! I had no choice but to retrace my steps back through the puddle, putting the ruts I left in my forward journey to great use. As you can see, I'm paying strict attention to my rearview mirror to make sure I stay in the ruts!
